Completed a small painting over the weekend, some months after what was an opportunity to revisit Balthus' figure of the girl in Therese on a Bench, 1939.

I settled on rotating mine 45 degrees to the left.
I think the parallels with religious iconography and motifs make the original image even more compelling. I love that modern art continues to serve up possibilities for re-interpretation and unravelling 75 years later.
